    Notes for Sarah Elizabeth Stone:
Even though Rose Manor Nursing Home resident Elizabeth Garbe recently turned 100, she didn't want to reveal her age at first. When her daughter Carol Mahnke did, Garbe said, "Am I 100 already? My word, I never thought I'd be that old." Garbe celebrated her century Nov. 21. She was born in 1903 in Oklahoma City, one of 12 children. She attended Putnam City Schools through high school graduation, but did not go to college. Some of her strongest memories are those of playing basketball in junior high and high school. "I loved basketball, I really did," she said. "That was my dreamboat. I loved to play that, oh man." The teams she played on had two forwards, two centers and two guards. She played forward and shot the goals. "I'd rather play as to eat," she said. Her daughter, Carol Mahnke, said recently the nursing home set up a game of "basketball," in which the residents took turns shooting a beach ball into a clothes hamper. Garbe has lived in Oklahoma most of her life, and raised her children in Guthrie. She moved to Shawnee in 1978 to live with Mahnke. Her husband, Erick Garbe, died in 1965. She was a florist for 25 years, and said her favorite flower is a red rose. Mahnke said Garbe arranged countless homecoming mums, corsages, funeral flowers and bouquets. She has four children, two of which are deceased; 12 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Her two living children are Mahnke and Earnest Garbe of Edmond. Looking back, Garbe said, "I've had a great life -- and still have it."The family celebrated her centennial with a party Saturday afternoon.

Lucinda's father, William Webster Parten was born 28 Feb 1833 in Hawkins Co. TN. He moved to Missouri some time prior to 1850. He died 7 May 1911.
Fed Census 1850 - William is listed with parents James and Catherine "Katie" and siblings in Taylor Twp, Greene Co. MO as 17 years old, born TN.
Copy of deed for 80 acres in Springfield, MO, granted William W. Parten on Nov. 1, 1859 by US General Land Office.
Fed Census 1860 - Listed with wife Sarah and children Taylor Twp. William Parten 26, Sarah 19, Mary 2, Anne 9/12.
Copy of military record for William Parton (sic) rec'd showing he was enlisted as a Private in Company "D" Greene and Christian Cos. Regiment of Home Guards and Missouri volunteers for three months on May 7, 1861. He was disbanded with the company Aug. 16, 1861.
