The Effingham Democrat, Thursday, October 5, 1876
Death of Huram Maxfield. After long and painful suffering, Huram Maxfield died at the residence of Capt. Dobbs, in this city, last Monday, Oct. 2d, and was buried in the city cemetery on Tuesday following. In the demise of Mr. Maxfield the community has lost an honest and upright man, and a good, kind and charitable neighbor. He was aged 68 years.
