- Father Robert H. Pringle age 63 in 1940 (b. IA)
- From Family histories of Canadian Co, Oklahoma / compiled by Canadian County History
Book Association. c1987.
- Walter Emmert Green was born in Iowa July 28, 1882 and later was adopted by the Nelson
Goodman family. In the early 1900's he married Flo Pringle in Brighton, Iowa, and they
came to Canadian County [Oklahoma] bringing their farming implements and livestock with
them. Flo was born in Iowa on Dec. 28, 1885.
- The settled on a farm on the corner of Wilshire Boulevard and Morgan Road which was
owned by Flo's father Robert Pringle. In those days Wilshire Boulevard was closed across
the North Canadian River bottom, but there was a bridge on Morgan Road.
- The Goodman's first son, Robert, lived only 5 days. Their second son, Kenneth Edward was
born April 1, 1910 and another son, Carl Otis was born Aug 12, 1912.
- Walter liked to farm with mules. One day after a rainstorm drove him in from the field,
Walter unharnessed the mules and turned them out of the barn. Lightning struck one and
killed it. Another time his mules were standing near a pasture fence and lightning killed
3 of them.
- The Goodmans raised wheat, corn oats, cotton and feed grains. They had cattle, hogs,
chickens and turkeys. Each Saturday Walter ran a route in Oklahoma City delivering eggs,
butter, fryers and homemade sausage to customers. Sometimes he would take rabbits his sons
had trapped or shot. Often he bought eggs from other area farmers so he would have enough
to supply his customers.
- Walter served for many years as school board president of Scott School and was president
of the Farmers Union local that met at the school located at the corner of Morgan Road and
108th Street.
- When his health failed, the Goodmans moved to Yukon where Walter died Oct. 28, 1947. Flo
continued to live in Yukon until her death March 1, 1966. They are buried in Olive Hill
